Setup of Outlook Express With ITX Mail

To send and receive mail using the ITX mail hosting services:

  1. Open Outlook Express, select the “Tools” menu item at the top of the page, and then select “Accounts” which will open the “Internet Accounts” window.
  2. Select the “Mail” tab, and then select the “Add” button and choose “Mail” which will start the “Internet Connection Wizard”
  3. In the window labeled “Your Name”, enter your full name in the box labeled “Display name:” and select “Next”.
  4. In the window labeled “Internet E-Mail Address”, enter is your own full email address, and select “Next”.
  5. In the window labeled “E-mail Server Names”, select “POP3” from the list labeled “My incoming mail server is a”, and for the boxes requiring names for Incoming and Outgoing mail servers, enter “mail.itx.net” for both – as in the following example.
  6. Select “Next”, which will display the window labeled “Internet Mail Logon”. In the box labeled “Account Name”, enter your full email address. Enter your password in the second box, check the box labeled “Remember Password”, but do NOT check the “SPA” box. Then select “Next” to continue.
  7. You should see a window labeled “Congratulations” which means you’ve successfully entered all the necessary info. You can select the “Back” button if necessary, otherwise select “Finish”.
  8. This will put you back in the “Internet Accounts” window, where you select “Close"
  9. In the main Outlook Express window, select the “Send/Recv” button to connect with the server.

    Note: If you unable to send email, select the “Tools” menu item at the top of the Outlook Express main page, and then select “Accounts” which will open the “Internet Accounts” window. Then select the “Mail” tab, highlight the mail.itx.net account, and then select “Properties”. In the window labeled “mail.itx.net Properties”, select the “Advanced” tab and change the “Outgoing mail (SMTP)” port from 25 to 2525, and select “OK”
  10. You have now configured Outlook Express 6 to work with the ITX mail server. If you are unable to send and receive mail, please step through the configuration process again to confirm that all the settings are correct.
